‘Tis The Season to Make Your Home Christmas Ready

Sorry, we said the C word.

But it’s true. We’re in October; we think it’s acceptable to start talking about Christmas. Well, maybe we should have discussed Halloween first, but Halloween doesn’t require as much effort or preparation. A pumpkin is all you need, and you’re good to go.

And if you go into your local supermarket, they’re already filled to the brim with Christmas adverts, decorations, and everything Christmassy they can fit in. It’s actually easier to find something Christmas-related than Halloween.

So, ’tis truly the season to make your home feel more Christmassy, and we’re here to help. Read on to find out more.

Deck the Halls

Well, don’t deck the halls and go all out Christmassy, but you can start to introduce the winter vibes and comfort. If you’re in the UK, some days, the weather really makes you feel like winter is already here, even though we’re only in autumn.

Simple changes don’t cross the line of being too Christmassy. A beautiful wreath hanging from the front door, puffed garlands over the fireplace, and stair railings or windows decorated with twinkling lights look really nice.

You can also try scented candles or diffusers, which are inexpensive additions that bring the wintery Christmas vibes you’re looking for. A less intrusive way would be to diffuse the more traditional and seasonal scents, such as pine, vanilla, or cinnamon.

Make Small Renovations Before The New Year

Most homes become filled with people over the festive period, even if they don’t like it.

Now is the perfect time to make minor changes to the home that make you feel ready for the people about to flood it. There’s nothing worse than feeling like your home isn’t ready for guests!

You do not need to spend heavily on massive renovations; small, simple renovations work perfectly. For example, a new interior door in your living room, fresh paint on the window panes, a lick of paint to the front door – they’re all small changes that people will notice.

Some other less invasive improvements – like installing new light fittings, getting new furniture for the worn-out ones, or replacing a coloured kitchen backsplash – are all suitable little tweaks for the new season.

Get Cosy With Soft Furnishings

Winter days are here. Soft furnishings should come with it. Cosy throws to cuddle up on the sofa, oversized cushions to sink into, fluffy rugs to nestle your cold toes into – they’re all cosy changes we love for winter.

Select seasonal shades and textures—plush red or forest green velvet cushions will look great for the Christmas season.

And don’t forget the bedroom! Cosy sheets or a heavy comforter can practically change the feel and warmth of a particular home during the chilly seasons. Replacing these light materials and fabrics with warm, decorative ones is a winter ritual most of us follow!

Get Your Dining Area Ready For The Season

The dining area – or more so the dining table – is likely to be the key focus of the feast during the Christmas celebrations.

First, let’s discuss table decoration. Start with an elegant tablecloth, table cover, or table runner that fits the season. Or, think about elegant seasonal dishes or centrepieces as decorations.

Similarly, you can use candles and decorations or add a small tree to the table.

If your dining table is too small, buy some side tables or counters to make the space more accommodating.

Christmas and the winter period are some of the best times of the year for most people. It’s a cosy season filled with love – how can you complain about that? And yes, you can say it’s too soon, but Christmas will be here before you know it!
